Mexico's transfer deadline day was in full swing in Cancun, with representatives of all 18 teams within the new Mexican Premier League gathered to negotiate for top players within the league. The legendary Italian striker would not be averse to finishing out his career in Mexico, according to reports emanating from that country.
Del Piero had been reportedly interested in a move to Latin America, with River Plate singled out as possibly facilitating a reunion with former French striker David Trezeguet as the club loads up in a return to the Argentine First Division.
Del Piero capped off nearly two decades of starring for Juventus this season, exiting the Turin club with more than 200 league goals while racking up six league titles and a UEFA Champions League among his main trophies. However, one name is making waves in the Mexican Caribbean all the way from Turin. A pair of representatives mingling with executives have claimed to be shopping Alessandro del Piero to interested clubs, according to reports out of Mexico. It is believed that the going rate is $2.5 million a year for the Italian forward.
