Blues defender speaks out

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has spoken out regarding the recent racism rows emerging from Stamford Bridge. Referee Mark Clattenburg is currently under review for allegedly making racist comments during Chelsea’s Premier League match against Manchester United, which comes after captain John Terry was charged by the FA for making racist comments towards Anton Ferdinand.
Now, Cahill insists that his teammates must turn their attention to footballing matters only.
“It’s important that we don’t let anything affect us and we showed that won’t happen,” he told reporters.
“Whatever is going on off the pitch, players relish playing football.”
Cahill went on to discuss his own role within the Chelsea squad, pointing out that he’d like to be involved in more first team action.
“The bench is not where I want to be,” said the former Bolton defender.
“It has been frustrating for me at times this season, but I think we rotate the team well and as long as you are getting as much game time as other people and not looked upon as third-choice, then that is fine.”
